Easy Network Marketing Aftermath Hurricane Sandy

Easy Network Marketing and Working From Home with the Aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

New York CityYou must be thinking what is the connection between Network Marketing and working from home have anything to do with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, dubbed the super storm of the century!  As you know, Hurricane Sandy swept across the northeast part of the United States over four months ago. With winds that topped 95 miles per hour, historical coastal flooding, and power outages that in some cases lasted for weeks, Super Storm Sandy has been hailed as the “storm of the century”. The destruction was devastating, leaving millions with no power, no food or clean water, no shelter, and many with no hope.

Even though we hear about this all the time that network marketing is Easy To Say… NOT Always So Easy To Do!Hurricane Sandy

Every day we’re faced with choices that we have to make.

If you think about… our life is basically nothing but choices, and where we end up in business, relationships, health, finance and every other area of our life is a cumulative effect of the choices we make.

Here is my story of events that Hurricane Sandy opened up my eyes and my inspirations that really wanted me to focus on my why’s for 2013 and beyond and the reason why I’ve had to seriously (yet again) re-evaluate my life, business and I took a break from Network Marketing to start repairs on our house, get our life back to normal and to focus on what are the real important priorities in my life.

We live on the south shore of Long Island, New York, and on Sunday 28th October we received text messages, phone calls and code red evacuation emails from the Suffolk County Emergency Center to evacuate as we live in an area 1 zone and Hurricane Sandy is coming our way.

We decided to stay and ride out Hurricane Sandy. It was a tough and stressful decision to make to stay, but your home is your castle, you want to protect and stay with your home, your personal belongings that you have worked so hard for over the many many years. This being our second evacuation notice since living on Long Island, the first being for Hurricane Irene last year, which we did decide to leave, but this time around we decided that hurricane sandy can’t be that bad.

The morning of the storm, 10:30 am Monday 29th, the water from the bay was already rising over the pier, about 1000ft from where our home is located. The boats tided up at the docks were already above the curb in the parking lot, the water levels were rising. By 6:00 pm we had to move our car to higher ground it was already ankle-deep. Hurricane Sandy hit us at about 8:00 pm that evening, we had already lost power, living by candle light. It was the scariest and roughest night we have ever encountered. The wind was unbelievable and the sounds of the trees, our home creaking and groaning with the sway of the wind until early morning. We were up all night. My husband had the tape measure out measuring the water levels rising up our front steps throughout the night. By this stage, we were beginning to wonder if we made the right decision to stay. Panic and worry started to set in by now.

Long Beach Long Island NYWe already had packed the car just in case things really got that bad we had to leave. But the hardest decision to make is what do you take with you? So many memories in the house. What do you take? We packed an overnight bag, our passports, important paperwork, photo albums, snack food, medical kit, and cat food (can’t leave our cat behind) for the Emergency Shelter. Deep down I was praying it wouldn’t have to get to this stage. In fact we did a lot of praying for protection and that we would get through all of this and everyone around us, but by this stage, we already knew we couldn’t it was too late.

The water was rising, coming into our yard. We heard car horns going off all around us and we went to check on our car. It was pitch black; the water had already risen 1 foot in our yard. Once we got through our front gate it was waist deep. Luckily where we had parked the car it had reached just under the door. We managed to move the car up on higher ground down the street. Throughout the night the house continually was shaking and creaking and was very frightening. The flow of the water coming through our yard was amazing at how fast it was, bringing with it diesel fuel from the boats and Halloween decorations from the neighbor’s yards, wood, and plastic bottles.

Looking out of the bedroom window was like being on a cruise ship. Where we live are 2 huge dumpsters at the entrance of the main road. I heard all this banging going on, and it was the dumpsters, they were being washed away floating down the main road. Come to find out the next day, one ended up in the McDonald’s car park down the road and the other ended up in the high school across the road.

But what struck me about Hurricane Sandy was the massiveness of it, the miles and miles of devastation that just seemed endless. Boats lifted over homes. Washing machines in the middle of the street. Boxes, furniture, mementos and precious memories of families – piled up along the curb as far as the eye can see. Just goes to show you the force of Mother Nature, how powerful she can be.

When you are in a life threatening situation, your whole outlook on life changes. Makes you really appreciate everything you have and not to take life for granted. You can make plans for the future, but you never know when those plans will ever make it to fruition. You have to live in the present and make the most of what you have today, be grateful and thankful for everyone and everything in your life. If you have dreams and goals, let nothing stop or stand in your way. You only live once so make the most of it.

When you have been in a position like this, you really have time to reflect on what it is that is so important in your life and what you really want to accomplish and just go do it without a second thought.

If you truly want something you will always find a way to get it. I have so much more passion and a burning desire to achieve my dreams and goal quicker than ever, and my mission is to help as many people who also have that burning desire and dreams to fulfill in this lifetime.

Just one more thing while we are on the subject of being grateful. I never really appreciated having power or thought about it that much until we lost if for about a week. Having no power is really tough. No lights except candles or torches, keeping food cold, not having hot water for showers, no watching TV, no charging cell phones, no washing machine, no dishwasher, not knowing what is going on around you and above all no INTERNET CONNECTION for my Network Marketing businesses. Everything is put on hold. Having no power after a while is very stressful, disruptive and makes life hard. So, from now on, I am so very grateful for power. You don’t know how much you realize your dependency on electricity until you lose it.No Gas after Hurricane Sandy Also having the ability to get fuel for the car whenever is another one I’m grateful for. Lining up for hours to get fuel, odd and even number plates on certain days.  Who would have thought, in this day and age?

With so much devastating news of the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, where people have lost everything, we count our blessing’s daily and truly grateful that we didn’t lose everything.

As with any other natural disaster, over the months, the media and most people across the nation will go on with their daily lives, forgetting about the tremendous need that will still exist for our brothers and sisters in New York and New Jersey.

There are millions of people who are just beginning to rebuild their lives. Restoration has only just begun. Life goes on, yet people across the northeast are feeling the painful effects of disaster in their families, their businesses, their communities, their churches, their schools. Life is far from normal for millions of people. The moral of my story is to be grateful, thankful and appreciate every day for everyone and everything in your life.
